This blog is about my running experience. I am not a physician, nutritionist or personal trainer. I am a runner. I do not know it all. I am only writing from my own experiences. I finished my first marathon on June 3, 2012. Who knows where my feet will take me next!

Weekly Review

It's been good to be back in Hawaii. Since I was sick most of the time we were home last, it felt really good to be here!  I did not have a plan for this week, my marathon training for a non-marathon ended last week.  I didn't follow it perfectly, but it really helped me get back on track.

Sunday
Result:  Ran 8.07 miles in 1:33:11, 11:33 pace.
Humidity, I did not miss you!

Monday
Result:  Walked 3.3 miles

Tuesday
Result:  Ran 6.02 miles in 1:10:12, 10:10 pace
I woke up really sore this morning, so I decided to take it easy and just run at Ala Moana Park (no hills!)  Once I started running, I felt great!  Key point - get out the door even when you don't feel like it, you might surprise yourself!

Wednesday
Result:  Ran 7.3 miles in 1:17:00, 10:33 pace
Ran up the Diamond Head Crater this day.  After a few days, the humidity doesn't bother me as much.  I've definitely adjusted this year.

Thursday
Result: Walked 2.4 miles

Friday
Result:  Ran 10 miles in 1:49:48, 10:59 pace
This was my second attempt at running completely around Tantalus Mountain.  I pushed hard and was happy with my results.  Some interesting stats:

I ran the loop going up Tantalus road on 9/14
9.89 miles in 1:48:17, 10:57 pace
Ave HR 147, max 161
Burned 782 calories
Elevation gained 1,437
PTE (Peak Training Effect) 3.2
Slowest mile 13:51

I did the reverse loop, going up Round Top on 10/18
10 miles in 1:49:48, 10:59 pace (I ran past my car to get the full 10 miles!)
Ave HR 155, max 167
Burned 894 calories
Elevation gained 1,434
PTE 4.3
Slowest mile 13:58

It's tough no matter which way I go!

Also walked 4.1 miles in the evening - dinner, watched sun set and moon rise, and a stop for ice cream!

Saturday
Result: Walked 3.88 miles in 56:40, 14:37 pace
I knew I would be sore from yesterday's run, so I planned a very easy run/walk.  I ran parts of the first two miles, but my legs were dead so I just decided to enjoy the beautiful morning.  I watched the moon set and the sun rise!

Total
Running 31.39
Walking 13.68
Total miles:  45.07
