This blog is about my running experience. I am not a physician, nutritionist or personal trainer. I am a runner. I do not know it all. I am only writing from my own experiences. I finished my first marathon on June 3, 2012. Who knows where my feet will take me next!

Marathon Training Week 1 (Week 8/52)

I kicked off week one of marathon training!  I only ran 3 times, but did a ton of walking.

Sunday - Ran 10.10 miles +1,557' elevation
My plan calls for a rest day on Sundays, but when we are on the island that is Tantalus day.  I hadn't run the mountain since last May and it was just as hard as I remembered.  It was my second slowest time in four years, some of that is because I stopped to take a lot of pictures, but I'm headed back today and saw some improvement.

Monday - Walked 5.34 miles
Les had the day off and we spent it wandering Waikiki with an extended visit to the Honolulu Zoo.  It's always cool when one of the cheetahs makes an appearance...

Tuesday - Walked 3.6 miles

Wednesday - Intervals Ran 4.89 miles
I'm still happy with how my intervals went.
Also walked 1.23 miles

Thursday - Walked 2.4 miles

Friday - Ran 6.5 miles +219' elevation
I took another trip around Diamond Head and did a lot better than last week.
Also walked 3.92 miles

Saturday - Rested
I took a full rest day and just hung out at the condo.

February Run Climbing Challenge Progress:  1,538 meters/5,046 feet - 76% complete

Total
Running 21.49
Walking 16.49
Total  37.98

    1. And the weather has been off the charts this week. Low humidity and moderate temps.
