Sunday - Ran 4.8 miles in 1:03:11, 13:11 pace
I was so sluggish! We sat in the car for 6 hours on Friday, then sat in airplanes for another 6 hours on Saturday. I needed a run, but my legs did not have any pep.
Monday - Trail run 7.0 miles in 1:32:18, 13:11 pace
My pace as the same as Sunday, but my legs felt much better - the trail is just so much harder! I had my best time with a PR on the run to the turn around and on the full run.
I have been very stiff lately and decided to take a Pilates CD I have (here), copy it to iTunes, then put it on my iPad so I could take it with me to Hawaii. I was thinking about this while running. Thinking about how I need to work on my core and flexibility. At the 3.4 mile mark (1/10th of a mile before turnaround) my right foot caught a rock and I stumbled. I pulled my left hamstring and was in intense pain. Further proof that I do need to work on flexibility!

Tuesday - Rested
Traveled back to Hawaii. I think we left the mainland just in time, weather is really turning nasty across the US!
Wednesday - Walked 4 miles. Also did Pilates - my left hamstring is still very sore and some moves were impossible. I also noticed stiffness in my right arm. Way too much sitting in cramped airlines seats this year!
I met Les for lunch and noticed lots of people with Honolulu Marathon bags. The marathon is tomorrow, December 8th. The Marathon Expo opened on Wednesday and I ended up spending about an hour wandering through it (I'll do a separate post on my purchase.) I wish I was running the marathon!! Our year has been so unsettled, I just couldn't train like I needed to. We also thought Les might be going to London this week, so until about 10 days ago we didn't even know if we would be in town for the marathon.
Les is on the cycling team that will be escorting the wheelchair racers. They leave 5 minutes before the runners. The job of the cyclists is to provide light and keep the road clear of spectators who may not see the rollers. I'm so excited that he gets to participate! I'll be hanging out with the spectators, cheering for everyone!!
Thursday - Walked 4.05 miles in 1:06:22, 16:23 pace
This started out as a run, but my hamstring was screaming at me. I've definitely injured something. I tried running a couple of times, but the pain was intense. I saw several elite runners (pretty sure they were from Kenya, last year's marathon winner is a Kenyan) - they were so smooth.
Friday - Walked 1.9 miles. Also did Pilates again. I was better with some of the moves, but my left hamstring was still nagging me. My abs are very sore! Sore muscles are good, that means the exercises are doing something. I'm planning on doing this workout three times a week and am looking for lots of improvement!
Met Les for lunch at the Marathon Expo. There were so many more people than just two days ago. The Honolulu Marathon is the second largest marathon in American - nearly 30,000 runners!
Saturday - Ran 4.07 miles in 49:41, 12:13 pace
Tested out my hamstring again today - it is improved, still not 100%, but definitely better. I did a mix of running and walking. I don't want to make things worse! I'll be taking tomorrow off - most of the streets around us will be closed and packed with runners and spectators. My plan is to be near the start, then make my way to the finish line. The rollers take about 95 minutes, so I want to be there when Les comes in with his rider. Then wait for the winners. I know it will be inspiring! Maybe next year!
Ala Moana Park was hopping today - definitely more runners than usual. I saw several large groups - one of about 35 runners. I also saw the elites again, I'm sure they were just out for an easy pace run, but they are in a whole different league! The winner last year ran 26.2 miles in 2:12:31, 5:04 pace!!!
Totals
Running 15.87
Walking 9.95
Total 25.82
