The first full week of 2014 is in the books. I mentioned a couple posts ago about doing marathon training again. Two days later I changed my mind! We are only going to be here in Hawaii four more weeks - I want to enjoy Diamond Head and Tantalus without the pressure of hitting certain paces. I can work on speed when we get home.
Sunday - Hike 1.82 miles
We decided to take another hike! This time we went to the Manoa Falls - all the pictures in today's post are from this hike. It wasn't nearly as strenuous as Koko Head. I would really like hiking if my legs were longer.
Monday - Ran 4 miles in 38:52, 9:43 pace
I woke up feeling like going fast, so I did!
Tuesday - Ran 8.03 miles in 1:32:20, 11:30 pace
I had planned to run the complete Tantalus loop, but my legs were sore, so I cut it a little short. It's amazing that my legs get so sore running a fast, short run.
Wednesday - Walked 3.5 miles
Thursday - Walked 2.3 miles
Friday - Ran 9.9 miles in 1:47:38, 10:52 pace
I made it all the way around Tantalus this time. Two rest days really made a difference. I really have to work to get my pace down, my average at the top was about 13 minutes a mile. My last four miles were all under 9 minutes a mile.
I don't know if I've ever shown the elevation chart of Tantalus. What goes up, must come down! Over 1,500 feet of climbing, almost all of it in the first 5 miles.
Also walked 3 miles
Saturday - Rest day
My legs are sore today! I really worked them yesterday.
Totals
Running 21.93
Walking 10.61
