Today's Run

As I mentioned earlier, today's run was truly fabulous!  Everything just went right.  I warmed up for about 1/2 mile before starting my Garmin, then started running... and running... and running!  I did not walk until mile 14.  Only two of 16 miles were over 10 minutes!

I kept looking at my watch and thinking, "I don't know how long I can sustain this pace."  But I stayed right around 9:45 until the last few miles.  Mile 14 hurt my average, but I made up for it on miles 15 and 16.

Mile 1:  9:47
Mile 2:  9:39
Mile 3:  9:38
Mile 4:  9:51
Mile 5:  9:58
Mile 6:  9:38
Mile 7:  9:29
Mile 8:  9:24
Mile 9:  9:13
Mile 10:  9:57
Mile 11: 9:52
Mile 12:  10:07
Mile 13: 9:42
Mile 14: 11:23
Mile 15: 9:15
Mile 16:  9:04

Overall pace: 9:48.  This would be a 4:14 marathon, only 14 minutes off my goal!  Today I really felt like I could do it.  The training is paying off.  The listening to my sore legs is paying off, too!

Since I got home, I've had a Recoverite, used my hand held massager, and did some stretching.  I'm really hoping to minimize soreness tomorrow.

Average HR: 154
Max HR: 164
Calories burned:  1605

  1. I'm panting and having a heart attack just thinking about not walking until mile 14! ;-)

  2. I have found a great training route, away from my normal routine. Very flat. Happy to see my endurance continuing to build.

Les and I were laughing last night remembering that I couldn't run half a mile when we were first married!
