This blog is about my running experience. I am not a physician, nutritionist or personal trainer. I am a runner. I do not know it all. I am only writing from my own experiences. I finished my first marathon on June 3, 2012. Who knows where my feet will take me next!

Training Week 1 Results

I had an awesome week!  Focused training is just what I needed.

Sunday:  4 Miles Easy (pace 10:04)
Result:  4.0 miles in 42:30, 10:32 pace
I had planned to do a longer run since I only ran 5 miles on Saturday.  At the 1.7 mile mark, I realized I had dropped my sunglasses, so I turned around.  It was more than a mile before I found them.  Fortunately I keep them in a soft case so they were unscathed.  I was close to home, so I just did a little extra loop in the neighborhood and settled for 4 miles for the day.

Monday: Rest Day
I really rested!  I didn't even walk anywhere this day.  Les came home for lunch and I cleaned and did laundry - yes, it still has to be done!

Tuesday:  4 Miles Hills (no planned pace)
Result:  8.3 miles in 1:30:12, 10:52 pace
Also walked 2.1 miles.

Wednesday:  4 Miles Easy (pace 10:04)

Result: 4.1 miles in 49:47, 12:09 pace
This is the only day that I experienced soreness.  I know it was from running at a faster pace on a longer run on Tuesday.  I took several walk breaks and was fine with it.
Also walked 2.5 miles

Thursday: 4 Miles Easy (pace 10:04)
Result:  5.2 miles in 52:34, 10:07 pace
I felt so good this day!  Taking it easier on Wednesday really helped my recovery.
Also walked 5.4 miles

Friday:  Rest Day
Result:  Walked 3 miles

Saturday:  10 Miles LSD (pace 10:04-11:04)
Result: 10.10 miles in 1:48:48, 10:46 pace
I am so pleased with today's run!  I kept my miles at a very steady pace and ended up with a negative split.  Unfortunately, my Garmin died at the 5 mile mark.  I quickly opened the Strava app on my iPhone and ran on!  I did the first 5 miles in 54:48, 10:58 pace and the second 5.1 in 54:00, 10:35 pace.
Since it is Saturday, I also walked 1.9 miles to the Farmer's Market.

I took this picture at the 4 mile mark of today's run.  Looks like rain is headed our way:

I took this picture just past the 5 mile mark:

Then it started pouring!  And I ran in the rain for about a mile and half!  It actually felt really good today, it seemed to cool the air a bit. I'm starting to think it's possible to adjust to running in this warm, humid climate and not die each time I'm out.

Totals for this week:
Ran 31.70
Walked 14.90
Total 46.60
Planned Miles:  26
