If possible, do some running on the course before the race. Note the locations of turns, hills, landmarks, and water stations. The familiarity will help you feel confident going into your big event.
I am very familiar with this route. It is where I ran my first half marathon in 2006! I think that is part of what gave me the confidence to sign up for the O2O Marathon and to set my eyes on a 4 hour marathon.
As far as feeling confident going into the big event... well, I've had my moments! Les is so great since he has done so many endurance events. He knows it will be hard, but he also knows training really does pay off. I'll say this, I am SO ready for Sunday! I will run 5 miles tomorrow and 3 miles on Saturday. That's all that's left. No matter my finishing time, I still hope to finish strong and injury free.
Don't forget to enter the contest to guess my finishing time!
