This was one of those weeks when life and weather trumped training! It's going to happen. That's why marathon training isn't two weeks, but 16!
Sunday: Rest Day
Result: 3.73 miles in 1:04:16, 17:14 pace
Les and I were both awake very early on Easter Sunday. We decided to go for a sunrise walk.
Monday: 4 Miles Easy w/4 Strides (Pace 9:52)
Result: I was exhausted from Easter and took Monday as a rest day.
Tuesday: 9 Miles with Yasso 800s
Result: Life happened. I spent the morning on LA freeways, taking Les to LAX.
Wednesday: Rest Day
Result: I thought I would do a makeup run today, but got rained out instead!
Thursday: 10 Miles w/8 Miles @ MP (Pace 9:09)
Result: 10 miles in 1:36:03, 9:36 pace. Nailed my marathon pace for 8 miles!
Friday: Rest Day
Result: I thought I would run since I had taken so many days off this week, but was rained out again!
April showers bring May flowers. What do May flowers bring? June Marathons! (Ha! That's as corny as saying "Pilgrims!")
Saturday: 20 Miles LSD w/Fast Finish (Pace 9:52)
Result: 20.10 miles in 3:30:29, 10:28 pace
I felt good for the first 13-14 miles, then started having some pain in my left hip. I spend the last 5 1/2 miles alternating walking for about 1/10th of a mile and running for 1/2 a mile. 20 miles is a long time to be on your feet!!
Total planned miles: 43
Total miles: 33.83
