My plan today said this:
Run one mile easy, then dial in to your goal marathon pace (9:09/mile) and hold it for eight miles. Cool down with one mile of easy running.
Mile 1 was a mix of running/walking - 11:27.
Miles 2 through 9, I nailed my marathon pace:
Mile 2 - 9:11
Mile 3 - 9:00
Mile 4 - 9:10
Mile 5 - 9:02
Mile 6 - 9:17
Mile 7 - 9:01
Mile 8 - 9:04
Mile 9 - 9:01
Average pace: 9:06!! Three seconds faster than my marathon pace. This is the first time I've been able to hold that pace for that long. I'm so excited to see this progress.
Mile 10 was another mix of running/walking - 11:45. Overall pace 9:36.
Ave HR - 151
Max HR - 162
Calorie burned - 983
