This blog is about my running experience. I am not a physician, nutritionist or personal trainer. I am a runner. I do not know it all. I am only writing from my own experiences. I finished my first marathon on June 3, 2012. Who knows where my feet will take me next!

MT W11 Results

I knew going in to this week that I had some challenges.  Most notably, I am coordinating a wedding at 1:00 today.  Back up to pictures starting at 11:00 and I knew I wouldn't have time for a 20 miler.  Well, I would have had time, but not time for breakfast and a shower!  I read that if you don't have time to do your LSD (long slow distance) all at one time, you can split it up - half in the morning and half in the afternoon.  That was not a viable option either.  So... I did an HSD (hilly slow distance) on Friday and a shorter LSD this morning.

Sunday:  Rest Day
Result:  Rested

Monday: 4 Miles Easy w/4 Strides  (Pace 9:52)
Result:  4.37 miles in 1:10:10, 14:01 pace.  I was feeling a bit sore from Saturday's run, throw in directing the choir on Sunday and playing for service and that was a lot of time on my feet on my "rest day."

Tuesday:  7 Miles Easy (Pace 9:52)
Result:  I was back at LAX picking Les up.  He had a great time in Georgia riding with his brother, Lance, and some other buddies for 6 days.

Wednesday:  Rest Day
Result:  7.78 miles in 1:31:48, 11:48 pace on the trail.

Thursday: 10 Miles w/8 Miles @ MP  (Pace 9:09)
Result:  I woke up with a sore throat, in part due to the fact that our weather took a dramatic turn this week - it was 38 last Saturday morning and has been in the 80s all week, hitting 97 on Friday!  A 60 degree swing is a bit extreme in my opinion. I also had a wedding rehearsal to plan for that night.  Decided to take an extra rest day.  Does standing for over an hour during rehearsal count for anything?

Friday:  4 Miles Easy (Pace 9:52)
Result:  10.01 in 1:52:00, 11:11 pace

Saturday:  20 Miles LSD w/Fast Finish (Pace 9:52)
Result: 13.1 miles in 2:09:10, 9:52 pace
I was really pleased with today's run.  I kept my pace at about 9:20 for the first 8 miles before I hit hills and started slowing.  I was able to run mile 12 in 9:22.  And this was with a hilly 10 miler yesterday!  If I maintain a 9:52 pace, I'll be able to run the marathon in under 4:20.  I'd be really pleased with that.

Max HR 160
Calories burned:  1249

This is what today's elevation profile looked like, so it's really no wonder I slowed at the end.  This is  encouraging to me since my marathon is almost completely downhill or flat.  No significant climbs and certainly nothing like that at the end.

And now I'm off to do more standing.  Think anyone would notice if I wore my running shoes to the wedding??

Total planned miles: 45
Total miles:  35.26
